Burger Club is Suspicious of Burger Creations

For a place marketed as a fast-food style burger, Burger Creations is an ill-advised name. Isn't fast-food the last kind of food that you want to go "creative?"

And Burger Creations is not even creative. As with most burger places that go the toppings route, Burger Creations names its burgers based on stereotypes of what people eat in different places. Throw an avocado on it, call it Santa Fe Burger; douse the patty in blue cheese, we got ourselves a Parisian Burger; you want teriyaki sauce, even though it sounds disgusting, we'll slap it on and call it the Fuji Burger. I'm already suspicious because the menu is fucking with us! Throw a slab of lasagna over the burger patty, and we got ourselves an Italian Burger; soak the buns in Folgers Beer and we got ourselves an Australian Burger. It doesn't even make sense! And worse yet, who wants to eat it?!

The real story behind the Burger Creations name is that they run out of ingredients so often that they have to get creative with what they got. Ok, not really, but quite possibly. Almost everything we ordered was out of stock—until ordering became a kind of game that we played with the cashier but a game completely devoid of fun or humor. We made notes to our Burger Club selves to come back and try the dessert burger, which is a brownie (represents the patty) between a donut (represents the bun), topped with strawberries (ketchup), and kiwi (pickles)…needless to say, SOLD.

Burger Creations's bulk ketchup dispenser was dry out of ketchup. In all kinds of love, there should be elements of the mysterious. Burger Club loves ketchup. So it was with great horror when the employee emerges from the backroom carrying a gigantic-economy-sized transparent bag of ketchup, which he then attempted to squirt into the ketchup dispenser. It was hard for him to keep a grip on the bag directly above the dispenser, so there was much unfortunate ketchup sloshing and unbecoming maneuvering. We could not watch any longer. Needless to say, an element of ketchup mystery was lost and can never be replaced again.

All in all, a mediocre experience—except the staff is exceedingly pleasant. Anna rates:

So the burger reminded me of a slightly bigger version of Pop Burger, which is a good thing. Because with sliders i feel like the bun becomes overwhelming. But I can't remember loving or hating the burger. I just remember the shake that I ordered being the most watered down thing ever.

This burger was unmemorable. Nothing very good or very bad about it, it's just ho-hum. The onion rings were good though, and the folks working the counter were extra nice!

I'm in awe of this blog. This is my dream job. Eating hamburgers and writing about them. Any recommendations for Chicago?
