Anna:
Burger Shoppe is divided into two floors: the first floor is designed in diner style, and the second floor is a bar, serving much more expensive burgers including, the $175 burger. Apparently the $175 burger comes with twenty-five grams of black truffles, foie gras, aged gruyere, and my personal snack favorite, gold flakes. Not only is the meat high in protein, but the gold flakes are great vitamins for vapidity. But I want to know, can I get a side of diamond-encrusted-crude-oil balls with that? Anyway, I finally settled on the Becky burger, at $7 (a mere savings of $168), a char-grilled patty made from daily ground Hereford beef from Ottomanelli & Sons on Bleecker Street and topped with aged cheddar, thick sliced pickles, and ketchup. There was an Obama burger on the menu, but the cheese was mozzarella, so it was not nearly as badass as its namesake. No bail out here, but the odd conglomerate of the upstairs and downstairs, was definitely Wall Street upstairs and Main Street downstairs.

Bex:
Love the old school diner vibe. I got the Shoppe Burger which comes with American cheese, lettuce, and special sauce and I added pickles and tomato. I also ordered a half and half side which consists of half fries and half onion rings. And why not- I also decided a Black and White milkshake was necessary. The burger is on the small side but with all that stuff piled on, plus the sides and shake, it was a full meal deal. The patty was cooked medium well, with a good outside char but the whole burger had a charred taste, which was slightly too much for me. All the ingredients looked and tasted fresh- crisp lettuce, juicy tomatoes and crunchy pickles. We also found out what the special sauce is: ketchup, mayo, and chopped pickles. yum!

Jane:
Good sides and a milkshake can win a lot of points with me, so the "half and half" option which allowed me to get both sweet potato fries AND onion rings, combined with a delicious black and white shake, pretty much won me over. The sweet potato fries were yummalicious, reminding me of a portable version Ma Sluss's world-famous Thanksgiving candied yams (washing the fries down with a sip of shake added the perfect hint of melted marshmallow topping). The burger itself also reminded me of dear mother. My family often makes fun of my affinity for burnt meat, but I must thank mom for always including the perfect amount of char, and the good folks at Wall Street Burger Shoppe seem to use her same technique. The burger itself is a little on the petite side, but I have to thank Bex for convincing me not to go all big businessman with the Merger Burger. All in all, pretty good burger and lovely location with great decor (though the counter seats are kinda slippery and I almost fell off twice). My only source of contention was the Obama burger--completely baffled by their choice of ingredients. This is what an Obama burger is supposed to look like.

Roger:
I had the "Merger Burger" which was 2 char-grilled burgers, cheese and special sauce. Maybe it was because we haven't had a char burger in awhile but it reminded me of the burger I like best. You can keep your grass-fed burgers just give me a good old fashioned char-burger shaped like a hockey puck. I have to admit I was pretty hungry when I got to Burger Shoppe so that may have influenced my rating by a calf. The fries were just so-so. Another thing I like about Burger Shoppe is the location. There is something cool about being down in the financial district in the evening. I really like the "I Am Legend" vibe. You are surrounded by all these close tall buildings yet its so quiet.
